Filip Dewinter
Belgian politician, Flemish nationalist advocate
Filip Dewinter (born November 23, 1962) is a Belgian politician who served as an influential member of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives and was a prominent figure in the Vlaams Belang party, a Flemish nationalist and far-right political organization. Born in Antwerp, Dewinter became one of the most recognizable faces of Flemish separatist politics in Belgium during the late 20th and early 21st centuries. He served in parliament for multiple decades and was known for his outspoken advocacy for Flemish independence and cultural preservation. His political career was marked by both significant support among his base and considerable controversy due to his party's nationalist positions. Dewinter authored several books on political philosophy and Flemish identity. In 2014, he was convicted of hate speech related to discriminatory statements, which became a significant point of contention in his public career. Despite the controversies, he remains a notable figure in contemporary Belgian and European nationalist political discourse.

Greek origin
“The Slavic and Scandinavian form of Philip, derived from the Greek Philippos meaning 'lover of horses.' Filip has a clean, strong sound that feels both classic and contemporary, popular across Eastern Europe, Poland, and Scandinavia. The name combines noble historical roots with an accessible, unpretentious character that appeals to modern parents.”
