Esma Redzepova (August 8, 1943 – December 13, 2016) was a Macedonian-Romani singer who became one of the most celebrated performers of Romani music worldwide. Born in Kočani, Macedonia, she rose to prominence in the 1960s with her distinctive contralto voice and emotional depth. Throughout her six-decade career, Esma recorded numerous albums and performed on stages across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, bringing Romani culture to global audiences. She won numerous international awards and was nominated for Grammy Awards multiple times.
