Emma Thompson

Emma Thompson (born April 15, 1959) is a British actress, screenwriter, producer, and activist who has achieved exceptional success across multiple facets of the entertainment industry. Born in London to a theatrical family—her mother was an actress and her father a comedian—Thompson was immersed in performance from childhood. She studied at Newnham College, Cambridge, where she performed in theatrical productions before launching her professional career in British theatre and television. Thompson's major film breakthrough came with Howards End (1992), for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
