Heavyweight boxer, two-time title challenger, devastating knockout power
Earnie Shavers (August 27, 1944 – August 2, 2023) was an American professional heavyweight boxer renowned for his exceptional punching power during the 1970s and 1980s. Born in Holmesville, Alabama, Shavers rose through the boxing ranks to become a legitimate heavyweight contender, fighting the era's greatest champions. He challenged Muhammad Ali for the heavyweight title in 1977, engaging in one of the most brutal heavyweight fights in history, ultimately losing by decision despite landing devastating blows.
