Dr. Dre
Hip-hop producer, rapper, Aftermath Entertainment founder, Beats Electronics co-founder
Dr. Dre (born André Romelle Young on February 18, 1965) is an American hip-hop mogul, producer, and rapper who fundamentally transformed rap music and the music industry as a whole. Emerging from Compton, California, Dre first gained prominence as a member of N.W.A., the groundbreaking gangsta rap group that brought West Coast hip-hop to mainstream prominence in the late 1980s. As a solo artist and especially as a producer, Dre became legendary for his innovative production techniques and signature sound, which blended funk samples with hard-hitting beats. He founded Aftermath Entertainment in 1996, establishing himself as a visionary label head who discovered and developed some of hip-hop's biggest stars, including Eminem, 50 Cent, and Snoop Dogg. His production credits include some of the best-selling and most critically acclaimed rap albums ever made, including Eminem's 'The Marshall Mathers LP' and '50 Cent's 'Get Rich or Die Tryin'.' Beyond music, Dre expanded into technology and business, co-founding Beats Electronics and selling it to Apple for $3 billion in 2014, making him one of the wealthiest figures in entertainment. His influence on hip-hop production, artist development, and business acumen has secured his legacy as one of the most important figures in modern music history.

Thinking about the name
Dre
American origin
“A short, punchy modern nickname or standalone name, often used as a street name or stage name rather than a formal given name. Dre emerged from hip-hop and urban culture as a cool, minimalist choice that conveys confidence and creativity. It works as either a nickname for names like André or as an independent name choice.”
