Donat Acoly

Donat Acoly (c. 1515–1590) was an Italian merchant and colonial administrator who became one of the most influential intermediaries in Portuguese India during the Age of Exploration. Born in Venice, Acoly migrated to Portuguese territories in the Indian subcontinent, where he leveraged his commercial acumen and linguistic abilities to facilitate trade between European merchants and local Asian traders.
