Darin Charles Erstad (born June 4, 1974) is an American former professional baseball player and current manager who enjoyed a successful 16-year Major League Baseball career. Born in Jamestown, North Dakota, Erstad was drafted by the Anaheim Angels in 1992 and made his MLB debut in 1995. Playing primarily as an outfielder but demonstrating remarkable versatility by playing multiple positions, Erstad became a cornerstone of the Angels franchise. His breakout season came in 2000 when he won the American League MVP award, batting .355 with 240 hits, leading the major leagues. That same year, he was instrumental in the Angels' success and earned multiple All-Star selections throughout his career. Known for his excellent defensive skills, work ethic, and leadership qualities, Erstad was respected by teammates and fans alike. He also played for several other MLB teams including the Chicago White Sox, Texas Rangers, and Colorado Rockies.
