Caryn Elaine Johnson
Oscar-winning actress, comedian, The View co-host
Caryn Elaine Johnson, professionally known as Whoopi Goldberg, is one of America's most accomplished and recognizable entertainers. Born in New York City in 1955, she began her career as a comedian and actress, breaking barriers in Hollywood as a Black woman in leading roles. Her breakout film role in 'The Color Purple' (1985) earned her an Academy Award nomination, and she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for 'Ghost' (1990). Beyond film, Goldberg has had a legendary career in stand-up comedy, voice acting (including the role of Shenzi in Disney's 'The Lion King'), and television. Since 2007, she has been a co-host of the daytime talk show 'The View,' where she became known for her candid commentary on social and political issues. Her career spans decades and multiple entertainment mediums, making her one of the few entertainers to achieve the rare 'EGOT' status by winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award.

Caryn
Greek origin
“A modern spelling of Karen or Carol, derived from the Greek meaning 'pure.' Caryn represents a 1970s-80s naming trend offering a fresh alternative to classic Karen. The spelling modernizes a timeless meaning while maintaining vintage charm.”
