Carlos Ghosn

Carlos Ghosn (born March 9, 1954) is a Lebanese-French-Brazilian automotive executive whose career represents both remarkable business achievement and dramatic international controversy. Beginning his career at Michelin, Ghosn gained prominence by turning around Renault's Brazilian operations in the 1990s. His reputation as a transformational leader led Nissan to recruit him in 1999 when the company faced severe financial crisis. Through aggressive restructuring, plant closures, and strategic cost-cutting known as the "Nissan Revival Plan," Ghosn restored Nissan to profitability and became a celebrated figure in business circles, earning the nickname "Le Cost Killer." He subsequently led both Nissan and Renault simultaneously, overseeing their alliance and attempting to deepen integration.
