Caldwell Jones (August 4, 1950 – July 30, 2014) was an American professional basketball player who had a distinguished 14-year career in the National Basketball Association. Born in McGehee, Arkansas, Jones was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers and became an integral part of their roster during their dominant years in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Standing 6'11" and weighing 210 pounds, he was renowned for his exceptional defensive skills, shot-blocking ability, and basketball intelligence. Jones appeared in four All-Star Games and was named to the All-NBA Defensive team multiple times, establishing himself as one of the era's premier defensive centers. He was a crucial contributor to the Sixers' 1983 NBA Championship victory alongside Julius Erving and Moses Malone.
