Bobbi Humphrey

Bobbi Humphrey (born 1950) is an American jazz flutist, composer, and bandleader who emerged as a distinctive voice in 1970s jazz and funk fusion. After studying flute at Manhattan School of Music, Humphrey signed with Blue Note Records in 1973, becoming one of the few women recording as a bandleader in jazz during that era. Her debut album 'Ired Moon' showcased her innovative approach to jazz flute, incorporating soul, funk, and R&B elements while maintaining sophisticated harmonic sensibilities. Humphrey's technical mastery and compositional creativity distinguished her in a male-dominated genre.
