Robert Sidney Hazle (September 23, 1930 – June 9, 2002), known as Bob Hazle, was an American Major League Baseball outfielder whose career is remembered for one extraordinary season and the tragic decline that followed. Called "The Sphinx of the Braves" for his quiet demeanor, Hazle joined the Milwaukee Braves mid-season in 1957 and had an astonishing second half, batting .403 with 27 home runs and 91 RBIs in just 134 games—nearly becoming the first player since 1922 to win the Triple Crown. His stunning performance helped lead the Braves to the 1957 World Series championship.
