Bernice King

Bernice Albertine King (born 1963) is an American physician, ordained minister, and civil rights activist who is the youngest child of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King. Growing up in the turbulent civil rights era, Bernice witnessed firsthand the struggle for racial equality and human dignity that defined her parents' lives and work. She pursued higher education and obtained her doctorate in theology, becoming an ordained minister in her own right. In 2009, Bernice became the CEO of the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Change, a role she has held with profound responsibility and vision. In this capacity, she has worked to preserve her father's legacy while extending the principles of nonviolent social change to contemporary issues including police brutality, economic inequality, and systemic racism.
