Arville Gibson

Arville Gibson was a pioneering African American professional golfer who competed during the era of racial segregation in American sports. Born in the early 20th century, Gibson faced significant discrimination and limited opportunities to play on mainstream professional golf circuits, as the PGA Tour maintained a color barrier until the 1960s. Despite these obstacles, he competed in various professional and semi-professional tournaments and became part of the small group of Black golfers who challenged the sport's racial exclusivity during the pre-integration era.
