Arvid Carlsson (January 25, 1923 – June 29, 2018) was a Swedish neuroscientist and pharmacologist who made groundbreaking discoveries in neurotransmitter research. In 2000, at age 77, Carlsson was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, shared with Paul Greengard and Eric Kandel, for his discoveries concerning signal transduction in the nervous system.
