Aniello Dellacroce
Underboss of Gambino crime family
Aniello Dellacroce (September 15, 1914 – December 2, 1985) was an Italian-American mobster who served as the underboss of the Gambino crime family, one of the most powerful organized crime syndicates in the United States. Born in New York City to Italian immigrant parents, Dellacroce rose through the ranks of the Mafia through a combination of intelligence, ruthlessness, and business savvy. He was nicknamed 'The Businessman' by law enforcement and fellow gangsters because he preferred negotiation and strategic planning over flashy violence, though he was fully capable of brutal enforcement when necessary. Dellacroce became the right-hand man to several Gambino bosses and was known for his ability to mediate disputes and maintain loyalty among associates. His leadership style emphasized profitability and organizational stability, making him one of the most respected figures in New York organized crime. Dellacroce died in 1985, and his death marked a significant transition point in the Gambino family's leadership structure.
