Andrew Grove

Andrew Grove (September 2, 1936 – March 21, 2016) was a Hungarian-American businessman and engineer who co-founded Intel Corporation with Gordon Moore and Robert Noyce in 1968. Born András István Gróf in Budapest, Grove emigrated to the United States in 1956 and earned a degree in chemical engineering from UC Berkeley. As Intel's third employee and later CEO from 1987 to 1998, Grove revolutionized the semiconductor industry through his management philosophy and strategic vision, leading Intel through multiple technological transitions and competitive challenges. He pioneered the concept of 'Only the Paranoid Survive,' emphasizing constant innovation and adaptation. Under his leadership, Intel's market capitalization grew from $500 million to over $197 billion, making it one of the world's most valuable companies. Grove received the National Medal of Technology and was recognized as one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people. His leadership during the x86 processor wars established Intel's dominance in computing for decades. Grove's business principles and memoirs have become essential reading in MBA programs worldwide.
