Andrae Crouch

Andrae Edward Crouch (July 1, 1942 – January 15, 2015) was an American gospel singer, songwriter, composer, and pastor who fundamentally transformed modern gospel music. Born in Los Angeles to a Pentecostal minister father, Crouch grew up immersed in church music and spirituality. He became famous for blending traditional gospel with contemporary musical elements, creating a sound that appealed to both church congregations and secular audiences. As the founder and pastor of Christ Memorial Church of God in Christ, Crouch led a ministry that became known for its innovative music. Throughout his career, he won fourteen Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Crouch's compositions and arrangements became standards in churches worldwide, and he collaborated with numerous artists across genres. His influence extended beyond gospel to inspire contemporary Christian music as a whole.
